DEFINITION: Defines the degree that a student is currently seeking. 

VALUES: See the USC Codebook, under Simple Search select DEGREE CODES (E0018).

FIELD ATTRIBUTE: A2

NOTE: The only difference between Degree Sought (DEGREE) and Degree Awarded (DEGAWD) is that the former has not yet been earned; the latter has already been awarded. DEGREE and DEGAWD use the same formatting and USC Codebook references.

EXAMPLE: To select students seeking a Master of Industrial Statistics degree, type DEGREE='7D' in the WHERE statement. To select students seeking either a Master of Industrial Statistics or a Master of Mass Communications degree, type DEGREE IN ('7D','66') in the WHERE statement.
