Activities of the Assessment Advisory Committee 1997-98
- July 1 1997 - Chair of Computer Science Department proposed a plan for assessing
computer literacy.
- August 14 1997 - Committee on Curricula and Courses asked the
Assessment Advisory Committee to comment on SACS requirements regarding computer competency.
- August 21 1997 - Chair of the Assessment Advisory Committee agreed to keep
the Committee on Curricula and Courses informed.
- August 26 1997 - Committee on Curricula and Courses requested the Assessment Advisory Committee
to give a time frame of how computer competency would be assessed.
- August 28 1997 - Assessment Advisory Committee Chair responded.
- September 8 1997 - New members of the Committee confirmed.
- September 24 1997 - Full committee met to resolve technical concerns of writing assessment
and discuss use of data from the COMP.
- October 24 1997 - New representative from College of Science and Math joins the committee.
- November 5 1997 - Chair of the Committee sent notes on computer competency to the Associate
Provost.
- November 10 1997 - Committee updated the Provost (PDF)
on its activities and asked for support in the
following areas: student participation in assessment, faculty involvement and SACS requirements. Adobe Acrobat required.
- December 1 1997 - Provost's office issued a reminder that strategic plans must include assessment
of student outcomes.
- December 9 1997 - Institutional Planning and Assessment offered assessment results to College
of Journalism and Mass Communications.
- February 8 1998 - Committee elaborated on computer competency requirement.
- March 18 1998 - Committee asked the Provost's Office to help coordinate dissemination of data
to other faculty committees.
