A total of 112 USC Columbia alumni (7.8% of the 2003-2004 graduates surveyed) completed the Alumni Survey in 2007.

The Alumni Survey is administered every two years to a 50% sample of USC alumni who were graduated two to three years before the survey is administered. The Alumni Survey is administered in part to fulfill the requirements of Act 255 of 1992, which mandates that public institutions of higher learning report placement data and educational satisfaction attitudes of graduates.
The low response rate for the 2007 Alumni Survey is most likely the result of new procedures used to administer the survey. Letters were mailed to alumni asking them to go to a specified website to complete the survey. All alumni who received the initial letter were later reminded via postcard. In previous years, a letter, the survey, and a postage-paid return envelope were mailed to alumni.
