Donald Miles

Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation

Donald is the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) liaison for the University of South Carolina.  He is responsible for all SACSCOC reports, including the Reaffirmation and Fifth Year Interim Report for the USC Columbia campus and four Palmetto College campuses.  Donald directs and oversees the development, implementation, and administration of the University’s accreditation, assessment, and structure of institutional effectiveness in support of the University’s core mission and education goals.  Donald has served in a number of roles within the office:  Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Executive Director, and now Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation.    He has also served on numerous University committees, such as the University Assessment Advisory Committee, the USC Connect Council, the Carolina Core Committee, and the Planning, Assessment and Innovation Council.  He is a past president of the South Carolina Association for Institutional Research (SCAIR).

Before coming to the OIRAA in 2012, Donald worked for Aiken Technical College as the Director of Planning and Research, and at USC Aiken as the Coordinator of Institutional Statistics. He holds an MPA from Augusta State University and a BA in Political Science from USC Aiken.
